MORGAN BALFOUR

Soprano

She/Her

Praised for her “thrilling clarity” (Sydney Morning Herald) and “impressive vocal control and dynamic sensitivity” (San Francisco Classical Voice), Australian soprano Morgan Balfour is quickly garnering attention in both the United States and Australia.
The 2022 - 2023 season saw Morgan make her debut with the San Francisco Symphony as the Soprano II soloist in Bach's Magnificat, conducted by Jane Glover. Enjoying a spring full of Bach's masterpieces, Morgan traveled to Stuttgart to perform with Internationale Bachakademie's JSB Ensemble. She returns to the U.S. to perform Bach's Mass in B Minor as the Soprano II Soloist with the San Francisco Bach Choir and will close Cantata Collective's season as the soprano soloist in Wer sich selbst erhöhet, der soll erniedriget werden BWV 47. Morgan is also delighted to feature as a soloist in American Bach Soloists concert series 'Harmonious Love', performing Céphise in Rameau's Pygmalion. She was a Virginia Best Adams Fellow at the 2022 Carmel Bach Festival and in the fall made her West Bay Opera debut as Annina in La Traviata whilst rejoining San Francisco Opera Guild for their tour of La bohème as Musetta.
With a strong affinity for early music and the concert stage, Morgan has numerous oratorio and concert credits to her name. She recently covered the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana with the San Francisco Symphony, was seen as the soprano soloist in UC Berkeley Chamber Chorus' production of Jame's Whitbourn's Annalies and was scheduled to perform a recital at the 2020 London Handel Festival (covid19).
